How Fast do Rabbits Breed?
Rabbits normally have a gestation priod of 28 to 31 days and in litter they can have 1 to 14 babies at a time. They can breed for 3 seasons a year. Most of the time the Doe gets impregnated right after the birth by the buck and gets pregnant.
The Doe reaches sexual maturity once she is 3 to 8 months old, they breed quite fast and can live up to 10 to 12 years of age. Rabbits are famous for breeding fast and there’s even a famous phrase “Breed like Rabbits”. As rabbits grow older, their breeding production starts to drop.
Rabbits are ready to mate almost through out the year and this is the reason that one female can product around 100 babies in one season. If you multiply that to the average age of a female, she can product over 1000 babies in her life.
